Cast 316SS Duplex Strainers

Eaton, Keckley and Titan all offer 150# class cast 316SS duplex basket strainers and Titan also offers a high pressure 300# class design.

The ¾” to 4″ size cast 316SS duplex basket strainers by all three manufacturers have a ball valve style flow diverter, so just like moving a ball valve lever, all the operate needs to do is rotate the handle 180°to point to the chamber you want in service. The primary difference between the designs is that both Eaton and Titan have a elastomeric (soft) seat whereas the Keckley design has a metal-to-metal seat. While there’s always an expectation of some leakage into the isolated basket chamber, it might be that the Keckley design has a slightly higher leakage rate. Both Keckley and Titan offer the ball valve style diverter design for the 6″ and 8″ sizes as well

Description

Eaton offers a tapered plug valve style diverter for their 6″ and 8″ sizes; its their Model 50 Duplex Basket Strainer. It operates similar to the ball valve diverter style, however there’s an additional step, lifting the valve off its seat with a screw jack. Once the flow is diverted the plug valve needs to be reseated with the screw jack. The Model 50 is another metal-to-metal sealing design which might be advantageous for some aggressive fluids.

Only Keckley offers cast 316SS duplex basket strainers for 10″ to 20″ size pipelines. Keckley Model SSDPXF cast 316SS duplex strainers use a sliding valve design. A pair of valve discs attached to a screw shaft slide from isolating one chamber to another when a geared operated is rotated. Their design uses (2) baskets per chamber to reduce the size and weight of the baskets removed, perhaps eliminating the requirement for an overhead hoist.
