Duplex Steel

These Steels are called duplex steels because their metallurgical structure consists of two phases, austenite and ferrite in roughly equal proportions.

Duplex stainless steels are used for their good mechanical properties in the as-cast and therefore as-welded condition and their excellent corrosion resistance properties particularly stress corrosion cracking.
