SNAP-RING® filter bags are manufactured from high quality, silicone free needle felt materials including polypropylene, polyester, nylon, wool, PTFE and meta-Aramid (HT). ISO 9001:2008 quality control standards assure performance consistency for each order, year after year. The heavy-duty sewing threads and sealing rings are produced to stringent specifications and must be silicone free.
SNAP-RING® filter bags have nominally rated retentions from 1 to 800 microns and they are considered to be the industry standard design for #1 through #4 size bag filter housings. SNAP-RING® filter bags can be used in almost any brand of bag filter housing such as Eaton, Hayward, GAF, American Felt, Loeffler, FSI and Rosedale.
#1 and #2 size fitler bags have the same 7″ opening diameter with the #1 size having a length of 17″ and the #2 size a length of 32″. The #3 and #4 size filter bags have a 4″ opening diameter with the #3 size having a 9″ length and the #4 size a 15″ length. Filter bags are typically 2-3 inches longer then their restrainer (support) basket to ensure ful support of the filter bag when it is full of debris.
The snap ring forms a seal against the restrainer basket within the bag filter housing. The snap-rings are available in zinc plated steel, stainless steel, polypropylene or nylon materials and fully enclosed within the needle felt. This type of filter bag is used for a variety of dirty water applications but also for corrosive chemicals, aggressive solvents and high temperature applicatons incomptible with crush seal filter bag designs.
SNAP-RING® filter bags can withstand up to 36 PSI differential pressure and thus should be scheduled for replacement once the differential pressure reaches about 15 PSI. As a nominally rated filter bag, the #2 size will support flow rates up to 176 GPM and the #1 size flow rates up to 88 GPM.
needle felt material is created by perforating a web of fibers with barbed needles, resulting in an irregular flow path through the fiber layer of which the filter bag is constructed. Particles are retained both on the surface and within the thickness of the needle felt material because the perforations create a pore structure amongst the dense fiber construction of the filter bag. The barbed needle shape pushes fibers through and pulls them back again, creating a pore with entangled fibers to retain fine particulate. The fibers remained locked in place due to the high degree of entanglement because the fibers are very long compared to their thickness.
SNAP-RING® filter bags are manufactured from virgin materials and are commonly used for retaining particles > 25 microns with high efficiency. Although nominally rated SNAP-RING® filter bags are available in 1, 5 and 10 microns retentions, the sealing efficiency of the snap-ring design is not ideal when retaining particles <25 microns is critical; for those applications consider the UNIBAG or the SENTINEL style filter bags due to their crush-ring style seal.
