Hayward’s industrial grade PVC basket strainers are used when the process flow can be interrupted to clean the strainer basket. The overall design is both rugged and extremely ergonomic with user safety in-mind.

The PVC body is a one piece injection molded design having (3) ports; an inlet, a same side outlet (lower) and an opposite side outlet. This configuration provides flexibility with how the strainer is plumbed into your system. Although there is a finger-tight drain plug, the lower true union connection is often used as a drain port with our optional drain kit, as it facilitates quicker drainage and minimizes potential contact between personnel and the process fluid. The true union connections simplify installation and, specifically for glued socket connections, enable installation/removal without cutting the pipeline. The integrally molded slotted flat bottom can be secured to grade. Hayward is also a valve manufacturer, we can also provide the isolation valves in ball or butterfly designs that are either manually or electrically/pneumatically actuated.

The chamber cover has over-sized handles to enable removal and installation of the cover without tools, reducing the chance strainer damage due to over-tightening. The vent plug is easily loosened to facilitate drainage and for venting air during filling.

Inside each Hayward PVC simplex strainer is a perforated PVC strainer basket that has an angled design to minimize pressure drop across the strainer. We can also provide perforated baskets made of CPVC, GFPP and 316SS; the 316SS material is also used for mesh lined baskets for applications requiring fine particle retention.
