Hayward Eastar Simplex Strainers Clear plastic basket strainers

Hayward’s Eastar strainers have a crystal clear, glass like look which are aesthetically pleasing for some applications but also serve as a visual indicator of flow through the system. Although we often describe Eastar as “clear PVC” it is actually a polyester compound which has excellent strength and chemical resistance characteristics. The true union connections are made of PVC (not translucent) and they enable installation and removal from the pipeline very easily without requiring tools. The vent and drain valves are thumb style plugs and the basket chamber cover has a pair of large, “rabbit ear” style handles to make opening and closing the basket chamber effortless. When you do not require tools there is less chance of damaging the strainer by over tightening.

The internal basket is made from PVC, CPVC or 316SS as desired; the standard is PVC and 316SS is used for mesh lined baskets but can also be used for perforated strainer baskets. The slanted basket design minimized differential pressure across the strainer and will not “spin” when the fluid velocity nears the 5 FPS maximum recommended inlet velocity. The flat base with integral mounting feet enable securing to grade.
