Pipe fittings made of ductile iron provide more robust, longer-lasting connections than those made of other threaded materials. They are half as heavy as Ductile iron threaded fittings but twice as strong.

Description

Ductile iron is produced when ferrosilicon and magnesium combine to transform normal cast iron into nodule-shaped crystalline graphite.
When heated appropriately, ductile iron threaded fittings can withstand tensile loads of up to 120,000 psi, significantly more than the 21,000 to 31,000 psi tensile strength of cast iron fittings.
