Y Strainer
Eaton’s model 85 Y strainers are offered with threaded, socket weld and ANSI flanged connections in both carbon steel and 316SS materials. The threaded and socket weld designs span a range of ¼” to 2″ and are 600# pressure class.
Thus Eaton model 85 carbon steel Y strainers are rated to 1480 PSIG at 100°F and the 316SS material up to 1440 PSIG at 100°F. Eatons model 85 Y strainers with flanged connections are offered in both 150# and 300# pressure classes for pipeline sizes from ¾” to 10″.
Eaton Hydraulics Filtration Division acquired Hayward Filtration division in 2005 and thus their cast Y strainer product line is equivalent to Hayward Filtrations’ prior to being acquired. Although Eaton acquired the cast iron, steel, bronze and 316SS Y strainer products from Hayward, they subsequently sold the cast iron and bronze Y strainers to Titan. Therefore if you have an old Hayward Y strainer made of an alloy, it is now provided by either Eaton or Titan depending upon the material of construction. Hayward Flow Control still manufactures non-alloy filtration products, including Y strainers made of PVC, CPVC, Clear PVC and PVDF.
